Lincoln MKX Windshield Replacement Costs and Quotes

Years Built:

2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019

The X in Lincoln MKX stands for Crossover.  The First Generation Lincoln MKX is from 2007 to 2015.  The Second Generation is from 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 and the Lincoln MKX was manufactured at Oakville, Ontario.  The Lincoln MKX is now actually being replaced with the Lincoln Nautilus.

The 2017, 2018, 2019 Lincoln MKX and Ford Edge have trim packages that come equipped with the Lane Departure Warning System that is a ADAS Advanced Driver Assistance System that is required to be recalibrated when removing and reinstalling the windshield.  These vehicles will require dynamic calibration and the estimated calibration cost is around $400-$450 just for the calibration.  The OE replacement windshield costs are around $750-$950 approximately.  Total researched cost for OE replacement and calibration is around $1200-$1500 depending on where you live in the USA and what type of glass is being used.

The 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Lincoln MKX can come equipped with a Lane Departure Warning System, Acoustic Interlayer, Electrochromic Mirror and a Heated Wiper Park Area.   If you are trying to replace a Driver side or Passenger side front door glass on your MKX the glass comes Laminated and you may notice the price to replace laminated glass is slightly more than a non laminated replacement glass part.  The 2016-2019 vehicles all share the same glass replacement part types so finding replacement glass should be easy.

The 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 Lincoln MKX all have the same body style so the windshield parts are all the same size making replacing the glass easier and more cost effective.  The Ford Edge and the Lincoln MKX also share the same replacement glass part types making the cost savings more significant when replacing any of the glass on these two vehicles.  In 2011 Ford and Lincoln introduced the rain sensor feature and that feature only exists on certain trim packages other possible options are the Acoustic Interlayer.  In 2011 Ford and Lincoln also introduced Laminated Door Glass that also has an Acoustic Interlayer that makes it quieter in the vehicle cabin.  Aftermarket and OEM Glass is widely available making the replacement process more affordable.

If you are not sure which options your vehicle has there’s a few ways we can help you out. The Vin number or vehicle identification number is usually the best way to help us determine what glass replacement part option you have. The vehicle identification number does not include a glass part indication in the 17 character vin code however it does help us determine which parts are specific to your Vehicle.

The factory build sheet or original window sticker is the silver bullet to determining the exact options however finding that can be difficult. Most glass companies can help decode the vin and determine the part however some companies do not ask and may instead ask you to take pictures and send pictures to them to help determine what you have. Another way to find out what options you have on your Vehicle is to contact the local Dealership and speak to the parts department.

They will ask you for your vin and then they should be able to tell you what options your Vehicle has. If you call the dealer make sure to ask them for the Dealer Part Number, Factory Part Number or OE Part Number (If they are willing to provide you with that). Each Dealership is privately owned. Some dealerships are part of a dealership group however some have policies that don’t allow them to give the customer the dealer part number, factory part number or also called OE Part Number. The dealer part number will help the auto glass shop match the part needed for replacing the windshield on your vehicle.

This 2011 and 2013 Lincoln MKX has a rain sensor feature option. Please select the part windshield with rain sensor from the drop down menu if you have a rain sensor. If you are unsure if you have a rain sensor then you can provide us with the VIN when we schedule the appointment and we can confirm that you have that feature. Having the rain sensor feature doesn’t always necessarily mean that your replacement windshield will be more expensive.

The 2011 LINCOLN MKX 4 DOOR UTILITY has an option for an Acoustic Interlayer replacement windshield. The acoustic interlayer is an additional soundproofing layer that helps keep the MKX quieter on the inside. If you are not sure if your MKX has the acoustic interlayer then if you provide us with your VIN number we can let you know.

Once you have the dealer part number/factory part number you can also use google to find other dealerships that might have your windshield available and even at a lower price. In situations where the vehicle is brand new the glass may not be available to the local auto glass shop or parts supplier so the dealership may be your only recourse.

Here are some questions you should be asking as a consumer to help you compare price quotes from different service providers.  How long is your warranty?  What does your warranty cover, does your price include tax, does your price include mobile service, does your price include glass disposal fees?  Will the auto glass shop provide a pre-scan and post scan printout upon completion of the calibration?  Most quotes will be for windshield replacements using “ARG” or “OEE” Aftermarket Replacement Glass and Original Equipment Equivalent.  If you are getting a windshield replacement make sure not to wash your car for 48 hours.  Most Urethane takes 48 hours to fully cure.
