Audi A6

The Audi A6 is a luxury sedan produced by the German automobile manufacturer Audi. It was first introduced in 1994 as a successor to the Audi 100. The A6 has since become one of Audi’s most popular and recognizable models, known for its refined design, advanced technology, and high-performance capabilities.

The Audi A6 has undergone several generational updates throughout its history. Each generation brings improvements in design, performance, and features. As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, the most recent generation is the fifth generation, which was introduced in 2018.

Regarding windshield replacement options for the Audi A6, there are typically two main options: original equipment manufacturer (OEM) glass and aftermarket glass. OEM glass is produced by the same company that manufactures the original windshields for Audi vehicles, ensuring a precise fit and matching quality. Aftermarket glass is produced by third-party manufacturers and may be a more cost-effective option, but it may not provide the exact same quality and fit as OEM glass.

Several companies manufacture windshields for Audi vehicles, including Saint-Gobain Sekurit, Pilkington, and AGC Automotive. These companies have extensive experience in producing automotive glass and provide windshields that meet the required specifications for Audi vehicles.

As for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features, the Audi A6 is equipped with various safety technologies, including lane departure warning and forward collision alert systems. These systems use sensors, cameras, and other technologies to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings and provide warnings or intervene in certain situations to help prevent accidents.

When it comes to windshield replacement and ADAS features, it is crucial to ensure that the replacement windshield is properly calibrated to maintain the functionality of these systems. ADAS recalibration may be necessary after windshield replacement to ensure accurate functioning. The specific recalibration requirements can vary depending on the vehicle’s model year and the ADAS systems installed. It is recommended to consult with an Audi dealership or authorized service center to determine the precise recalibration process needed for the Audi A6’s ADAS features after windshield replacement.

This 2006 AUDI A6 has a rain sensor feature option. Please select the part windshield with rain sensor from the drop down menu if you have a rain sensor. If you are unsure if you have a rain sensor then you can provide us with the VIN when we schedule the appointment and we can confirm that you have that feature. Having the rain sensor feature doesn’t always necessarily mean that your replacement windshield will be more expensive.

If you are not sure which options your vehicle has there’s a few ways we can help you out. The Vin number or vehicle identification number is usually the best way to help us determine what glass replacement part option you have. The vehicle identification number does not include a glass part indicator in the 17 character vin code however it does help us determine which parts are specific to your Vehicle.
The factory build sheet or also called the original window sticker is the silver bullet to determining the exact options however finding that can be difficult.  The Original Window Sticker contains all the information about the vehicle from the Factory and some dealerships will be willing to provide you with a printout of this sticker if you ask.  Some Dealerships may refuse to make a printout of the window sticker or Factory build sheet so you may have the best luck with the dealership where you purchased the vehicle.

Most glass companies can help decode the vin and determine the part however some companies do not ask and may instead ask you to take pictures and send pictures to them to help determine what you have. Another way to find out what options you have on your Vehicle is to contact the local Dealership and speak to the parts department.

They will ask you for your vin and then they should be able to tell you what options your Vehicle has. If you call the dealer make sure to ask them for the Dealer Part Number (If they are willing to provide you with that). Each Dealership is privately owned. Some dealerships are part of a dealership group however some have policies that don’t allow them to give the customer the dealer part number or factory part number. The dealer part number will help the auto glass shop match the part needed for replacing the windshield on your vehicle.
Once you have the dealer part number/factory part number you can also use google to find other dealerships that might have your windshield available and even at a lower price. In situations where the vehicle is brand new the glass may not be available to the local auto glass shop or parts supplier so the dealership may be your only recourse.

Other Questions to Ask Auto Glass Shops when getting quotes.

Here are some questions you should be asking as a consumer to help you compare price quotes from different service providers.

Questions to ask how long is your warranty?
What does your warranty cover?
Does your price include tax?
Does your price include mobile service?
Does your price include glass disposal fees?

Will you provide a pre-scan and post scan printout upon completion of the calibration?

Most quotes will be for windshield replacements using “ARG” or “OEE” Aftermarket Replacement Glass and Original Equipment Equivalent
