Audi Q7: History and Production
The Audi Q7 is a luxury mid-size SUV manufactured by the German automaker Audi AG. It was first introduced in 2005 and has since become a popular choice among luxury SUV enthusiasts. The Q7 was Audi’s first foray into the SUV market and has undergone several generations of updates and redesigns.
Years in Production

In 2015, the second generation of the Q7 was launched, which showcased a more refined and contemporary look. The production of the second-generation Q7 is ongoing as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021.
Windshield Replacement Options
When it comes to windshield replacement for the Audi Q7, there are a few options available. Generally, you can choose between Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) windshields or aftermarket windshields.
OEM windshields are manufactured by the same company that produced the original windshield for the vehicle, ensuring a precise fit and quality comparable to the original. Audi-branded windshields are typically available through authorized Audi dealerships or certified auto glass shops.
On the other hand, aftermarket windshields are produced by third-party companies that specialize in manufacturing auto glass. These windshields may be more affordable compared to OEM options but may vary in terms of fit and quality.
Glass Manufacturers for Audi Q7 Windshields
The specific companies that manufacture the glass for Audi Q7 windshields can vary depending on the model year and production location. Some notable manufacturers of automotive glass, including windshields, are Saint-Gobain Sekurit, Pilkington, AGC Automotive, and Guardian Industries. Audi may source its windshields from one or more of these manufacturers.
ADAS Features and Windshield Replacement
The Audi Q7 is equipped with various Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features designed to enhance safety and convenience on the road. Some of these features may utilize sensors or cameras mounted on or near the windshield. Examples of ADAS features in the Q7 may include:
Lane Departure Warning/Assist: This feature alerts the driver if the vehicle starts to drift out of its lane without signaling. In some cases, it may also provide corrective steering inputs to keep the vehicle centered within the lane.
Forward Collision Alert/Assist: The Q7’s forward collision alert system uses sensors to detect the proximity of vehicles or obstacles ahead. It provides warnings to the driver if a potential collision is detected and, in some cases, can even apply automatic emergency braking to mitigate or avoid a collision.
Recalibration for ADAS Features
When replacing the windshield on a vehicle equipped with ADAS features like lane departure warning or forward collision alert, recalibration is often necessary. Recalibration ensures that the sensors and cameras used by these systems are properly aligned and calibrated to provide accurate and reliable functionality.
Recalibration typically involves using specialized equipment and software to adjust the sensors’ positions and calibrate the ADAS systems. This process is usually performed by certified technicians at authorized service centers or specialized auto glass shops equipped with the necessary tools.
It’s important to note that recalibration requirements may vary depending on the specific ADAS features and the vehicle model. Audi recommends following the manufacturer’s guidelines and consulting authorized service centers for windshield replacement and ADAS recalibration procedures specific to the Audi Q7.

If you are not sure which options your vehicle has there’s a few ways we can help you out. The Vin number or vehicle identification number is usually the best way to help us determine what glass replacement part option you have. The vehicle identification number does not include a glass part indication in the 17 character vin code however it does help us determine which parts are specific to your Vehicle.
The factory build sheet is the silver bullet to determining the exact options however finding that can be difficult. Most glass companies can help decode the vin and determine the part however some companies do not ask and may instead ask you to take pictures and send pictures to them to help determine what you have. Another way to find out what options you have on your Vehicle is to contact the local Dealership and speak to the parts department.
They will ask you for your vin and then they should be able to tell you what options your Vehicle has. If you call the dealer make sure to ask them for the Dealer Part Number (If they are willing to provide you with that). Each Dealership is privately owned. Some dealerships are part of a dealership group however some have policies that don’t allow them to give the customer the dealer part number or factory part number. The dealer part number will help the auto glass shop match the part needed for replacing the windshield on your vehicle.
Once you have the dealer part number/factory part number you can also use google to find other dealerships that might have your windshield available and even at a lower price. In situations where the vehicle is brand new the glass may not be available to the local auto glass shop or parts supplier so the dealership may be your only recourse.
